    I’m a young adult author, educator, creator, and most importantly, your guide through the highs, lows, and twisty-turny roads of the publishing world.

    My first manuscript landed me 8 agent offers in 30 days, and my debut novel, ‘We Ship It,’ earned me a 6-figure, 2-book deal. That’s the dream, right? But it wasn’t smooth sailing.

    Let’s back up a bit. When I started writing, I doubted I could make it as a novelist. I had no idea if my work was even good enough to publish. (Real talk: It wasn’t…yet. That took a lot of learning, drafting, and revising.) When I finally felt confident in my manuscript, I still felt clueless about how to get it published.

    So I got curious and dove into research mode for weeks, uncovering everything I could about the industry, agents, and querying. I realized something that changed the game for me. The “traditional” advice — query slowly and wait your turn — serves agents, not writers. So I ignored that approach and forged my own path.

    Leveraging the skills I gained running my own startups for 7 years, I devised a revolutionary querying system built on savvy strategy, analytical insights, and outside-the-box thinking. And it worked better than I ever imagined!

      Going into this course I had a weak hook, no knowledge on how to find the right agents (aka not the mega selective giants) and a lack of reliable beta-readers, and this course gave me EVERYTHING I needed to feel prepared in my manuscript and in my querying - plus info I didn't know that I didn't know! Going forward I feel a lot more knowledgeable, and therefore confident, in the process. I had a hook prepared coming into the course but I knew it was stale and needed jazzing up but I didn't know how.     • This depends on your goals as a writer! If you are looking to sell as many books as possible and make a living with your writing, traditional publishing still offers the best chance of that. With these goals in mind, I would suggest giving querying your very best shot. If that doesn’t work out, self-publishing is another great path to consider.

    • About half of writers sign up with a completed manuscript, and about half join after they have finished writing their first or second drafts. Either path is great! If you are earlier in the process, you will be able to take advantage of the amazing community and critique group you are placed in. Once your manuscript is fully polished, you can rewatch the course videos, which you will have lifetime access to. And if you join with a completed manuscript, you will be able to put the methods I teach to work right away!

    • My background is in fiction writing, and the query examples used are for fiction novels. However, the overall strategies will apply to all genres, and this course is a good fit for both fiction and nonfiction authors who want tailored guidance, structure, and a supportive community to make their publishing dreams a reality.

      Because we’ve had so much interest from nonfiction students, we’ve added a recording of our nonfiction workshop taught by a published memoirist. This workshop provides strategies for pitching nonfiction projects to agents.

    • Short answer: no. I won’t sugarcoat it — getting an agent is hard. This course won’t provide any gimmicks or false guarantees. But here’s what I can promise: if you put in the work, this course will optimize your querying process and give you the best shot at success.

    • This course is hosted on Teachable and is made up of 8 main modules. Each module consists of multiple 5- to 10-minute video lessons. Some lessons include homework assignments, which can be shared in the Query Bootcamp community. Worksheets, spreadsheets, and email templates will also be delivered with the course.

    • All course participants will be invited to a private Slack community, where writers can share wins, exchange query advice, and get support. Writers will also be offered the chance to participate in small critique groups. Course participants will be encouraged to set up weekly meetings with their critique groups.

    • The course is self serve and can be completed at your own pace. The suggested pace is 1-2 modules per week, completing the full course in 4-6 weeks.

    • You will have lifetime access to the online course and Slack community.
