Query Bootcamp is the most comprehensive writing or querying course I have ever attended. In the past I have been let down by very expensive querying and writing workshops that just don't feel detailed or comprehensive. But there is no gatekeeping here!

Query Bootcamp is filled with behind the scenes knowledge of the publishing industry that I had never heard in other workshops and includes a substantive set of tools I wish I had years ago. If I had this course when I was starting out in the query trenches I would have saved countless hours and many missteps. I'll be re-designing my query strategy based on Lauren's tools!

I am so thankful to have the opportunity to participate in query bootcamp with Lauren. Even though I already started querying and had a letter drafted, the course helped me improve my letter and methods in ways I never would have been able to do on my own. I also think Lauren is great at helping with positive energy and motivation, querying is so hard to do alone.

Update: Auri got multiple agent offers and signed with an agent for both her nonfiction and fiction books!

Lauren is the patron saint of authors. At her core she wants authors to win and wants to help you get your highest best offers for your work. It’s amazing to partner with someone who has your best interests in mind. 

Query Bootcamp is easy to follow and actionable. Lauren helps you step behind the curtain of the process and makes it less daunting and intimidating. Lauren is very data driven and that really helps when you have a formula and rules to use when you’re going through this process. It makes it less painful and personal. You just look at the numbers and know how you’re doing. 

I’ve already traditionally published and I already have a non-fiction agent but I went through that process more than a decade ago and things have changed. I’m now looking for a fiction agent and having Lauren walk through not only the sites to check out to find appropriate agents but also how to create the perfect query letter has been priceless. Within a month I had five requests for full manuscript review and agents were intrigued with my project.

I LOVED the lessons and live connection with Lauren and team. The course content was extremely helpful for me. I was clueless as to how the querying and publishing process went and how to even start constructing a package to query. The course is honestly amazing. Best money I have spent throughout this process for a debut novel. Even if this novel does not make it to a publisher I feel confident that I will get to that point with subsequent work, now that I have the tools to do it. I found the resources given most valuable as well as the explanation for each resource. My favorite is the agent/query tracker which I have utilized consistently. The slack app was so easy to use and a great form of communication. My critique group is amazing and we have formed bonds far past this course and I’m so grateful for it!! 

One last thing is that Lauren is so personal in her teaching and response to any questions and Francesca’s knowledge is unbeatable. A really great team to be connected with! I’ve queried about 20 agents and after the live query critique, I tweaked my letter even more so and will continue querying so fingers crossed!! Thank you Lauren and team!!

Lauren's personal experience and advice was SO helpful! The agent tracker doc and strategy alone was worth the course of the cost. I feel very prepared going into querying. The Slack community was very helpful. Not only could I get questions answered quickly, but seeing the other questions asked helped spark ideas and adjustments I would not have thought of otherwise. Each individual video is just the right length, clear and cogent. Each one offers an important and useful skill. The order of the segments works well and helps to build a solid understanding of the agenting process.

The resources are bountiful and so helpful. Even with the success of your own queries and book, I don’t know how you found so many useful sources. And typical of your thoroughness, you have given good directions on how to use each one.

If I had set out to learn everything that Lauren has included in the Query Bootcamp, it would have taken me months. She’s broken down the query process into short easy to digest videos and made a super complex process easy to understand. I’m so glad I have this knowledge as I move into the querying process!

It was just an all around great experience! So many people shared their wins about getting agents to request their manuscript!!! I thought this was so foreign but it made me believe I could do it too! I had never seen so many people get requests; it wasn’t real to me until taking this course!

I’ve been loving this course and whole experience! Four members of my group offered to beta read my book, and one got back to me in one day with 29 pages of notes (!) She said she couldn’t put it down, which gave me so much confidence. Such an awesome community, and such amazing videos and resources!

Going into this course I had a weak hook, no knowledge on how to find the right agents (aka not the mega selective giants) and a lack of reliable beta-readers, and this course gave me EVERYTHING I needed to feel prepared in my manuscript and in my querying - plus info I didn't know that I didn't know! Going forward I feel a lot more knowledgeable, and therefore confident, in the process. I had a hook prepared coming into the course but I knew it was stale and needed jazzing up but I didn't know how. The multiple case studies provided the breakdown I needed (and that hook ended in 2 partial requests and 1 full request at a pitching event <3 )

This Bootcamp did all of the heavy lifting for you. It compiled all of the information you need on what a query letter is, did the research on when is the best time to query, and provided so much applicable information on everything in between. The Bootcamp was invaluable, it saved me tons of time I would have spent researching on my own and connected me with other like minded writers who are open to sharing their knowledge as well. The agent Q & A and live critiques at the end were invaluable. I was able to make connections outside of my critique group and we have been swapping manuscripts, synopses, and query letters back and forth.

The course definitely met my expectations and I feel MUCH more confident in my ability to query agents now. The video lessons in particular were wonderful, especially the step-by-step ones that showed how to use each resource or complete each part of the process. How to use query tracker, MSWL etc and the tracking spreadsheet were probably my favourites, followed by the query letter lessons.

The videos about writing the query letter were more informative and diverse than anything I have seen online so far. I loved the videos on navigating through Query Tracker and Manuscript wishlist, it saved me hours and hours of time trying to skim through websites and videos online- everything was easy to follow, neatly packed with accessible videos, and Lauren and the Query Bootcamp community were always one message away! The community was extremely supportive, I loved that we had a dedicated support system for posting questions- and that both Lauren and other writers could step in and share their own experiences and suggestions. I found the in-depth analyses of successful queries in different genres extremely useful, and it allowed me to see the weaknesses in my own query in a way I hadn't before. Lauren's dedication in sorting us based on genre and age was so helpful, I was able to meet authors who either already queried, were in the process of querying or are planning to query- and I gained so much helpful feedback from all of them.

Lauren created an amazing bootcamp with relevant and purposeful resources. She was also very helpful with individual questions/concerns. Wonderful! And after many years of writing alone, I've found some great writing friends! I've found a writing community on Slack and we've committed to bi-monthly Zoom meetings and reviewing each other's work! I've also learned so much on how to refine my query for the best chance of success!
