Sixteen-year-old Princess Amelia must marry. Her kingdom's waters are besieged by pirates, and an alliance is the only way to save it. When she gets a generous offer from sword-wielding Queen Salira and her dashing brother from a mysterious far-away land, she has little doubts about signing the marriage contract. She doesn't even bother reading it.

Big mistake. As it turns out, her betrothed isn't the handsome prince, but the Queen herself.

Now stuck in a strange and dangerous country and shockingly betrothed to another woman, Amelia struggles to accept the marriage, torn between her duty and her confused heart. Salira is a better suitor than she could ever hope for, but something dark hides behind the Queen's sorrowful eyes and the marble armor she wears over her very soul. Amelia must fight her own demons before she can tackle her wife's, all while war looms on the horizon. Will she find her happily ever after, or will the secrets behind her marriage become her undoing?

Inspired by Revolutionary Girl Utena and The Rose of Versailles, The Marble Queen is a unique LGBT take on the genre with a Beauty and the Beast feel. Similar titles include A Court of Thorns and Roses and The Winner's Curse.
